The Notorious P.i.g. Information

The Notorious P.i.g. at 800 Pine St, Madisonville, LA 70447, has a name that immediately catches your attention. It suggests a playful personality and a serious appreciation for pork, making it an intriguing stop for anyone exploring the local dining scene. Madisonville, with its small-town charm and Louisiana food traditions, provides an appealing setting for a restaurant with such a distinctive identity.

The name naturally brings barbecue to mind, especially the kind of slow-cooked, smoky comfort food that makes Southern dining so satisfying. Pulled pork, tender ribs, smoked brisket, and hearty sandwiches are the kinds of dishes barbecue enthusiasts might hope to find. However, the current menu hasn't been independently confirmed, so it's worth checking the available selections before visiting. A good barbecue experience depends on more than generous portions. Properly cooked meat should be tender without becoming mushy, with seasoning that complements rather than overwhelms the natural flavor.

For diners considering The Notorious P.i.g., menu variety is an important detail. Traditional barbecue restaurants often balance rich, savory meats with familiar sides such as coleslaw, baked beans, potato salad, and macaroni and cheese. These accompaniments can make a surprisingly big difference. Something crisp and tangy, for example, provides a welcome contrast to fatty pork, while a warm, cheesy side adds another layer of comfort. Sauce choices also matter, particularly for customers who enjoy comparing sweet, smoky, spicy, and vinegar-forward flavors.

Atmosphere is another part of the restaurant experience worth considering. In a community like Madisonville, casual dining often revolves around relaxed meals, friendly conversation, and familiar neighborhood surroundings. The Pine Street location places the establishment within this Louisiana town, where local character can be just as appealing as the food itself. Whether the setting is designed for a quick lunch, a leisurely dinner, or a casual gathering is something visitors should verify through current restaurant information.

Customer service can shape the experience just as much as the kitchen. Helpful staff, clear menu explanations, reasonable waiting times, and consistent food preparation are particularly valuable when ordering freshly prepared meals. Online reviews can offer useful insight into these details, although recent customer feedback is generally more informative than older ratings. Looking for repeated comments about food quality, portion sizes, cleanliness, and hospitality can help establish realistic expectations.

Pricing and portion value are also worth examining before ordering. Barbecue-style meals can vary considerably depending on meat selection, serving weight, and included sides. Combination plates are often appealing because they allow diners to compare different preparations, while sandwiches can provide a more manageable option for lunch. For anyone planning a visit to The Notorious P.i.g., checking the latest menu, operating hours, and customer reviews can help clarify which dishes are available and how the restaurant fits into Madisonville's local food scene.

What People's Say About Place

First time here and definitely won't be the last. Amazing BBQ ! Amazing friendly staff, beautiful outdoor dining. Just a great experience for us overall. The dino ribs are cooked to perfection. Next time I'll get some brisket or the Thor's hammer if I remember to order a day ahead of time. Can't go wrong here. Macaroni was crazy good, seoul sausage dogs are really good too. You gotta give them a try if you're into BBQ or not.

Stopped by Notorious P.I.G. and enjoyed the outdoor seating atmosphere. The brisket sandwich was really good, flavorful, tender, and a solid portion. The mac and cheese was a great side choice as well. Prices were reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. Overall, a good casual spot for some barbecue with a relaxed outdoor vibe.

If you’re even thinking about BBQ, stop what you’re doing and go. This was hands down the BEST BBQ we’ve ever had. And I don’t say that lightly. Every single bite was unreal. The kind of food where you pause mid-conversation because it’s just that good. The pork belly tacos? Next level. The mac and cheese and greens? Absolutely unforgettable. But honestly, trying to pick favorites feels impossible because everything was that good. Beyond the food, the whole vibe just hits. It’s vibrant, cool, and still has that down-home, welcoming feel that makes you want to stay awhile. You can tell they genuinely care about their customers and take serious pride in what they’re serving—and it shows in every detail. This isn’t just a meal, it’s an experience. Do yourself a favor and go hungry… you’ll be thinking about it long after you leave.

The food was excellent and I was expecting smaller portions so we ordered the 3 meat plate with mac n cheese and then also got a 1/2 rack of ribs, a small side of beans and 2 drinks. That was WAY too much food, even for my husband and I to share. We could have fed 4 people. It was $57.70.

We will absolutely be coming back. I got the meat plate (pulled pork with original BBQ sauce, cole slaw, and collard greens). My husband got the 2 meat plate (burnt end & brisket with honey BBQ sauce, mac & cheese, and Texas toast). The food was all very good!!! I recommend the honey BBQ over the original. Good weather, great service, awesome location, and even better vibes.

Ya'll this is the best BBQ I have ever had. Placed an online order and within minutes they called to review it and ensure it was taken care of. I am so impressed with the service here. Veteran owned small family restaurant and was amazed by the candied pork belly burnt ends, this place will become famous OMG! It was AMAZING! Thank you and i will definitely be back! Be looking for another online order coming your way soon!!! This has been great you made my day!

I’ve been here a few times now, and I’m officially hooked. At this point, I’m not even sure I can stop returning. This food is a masterclass in BBQ. The pulled pork, brisket, and burnt ends are flawless, and both sausages have the perfect snap. Even the sides, beer mac and cheese, greens, pit beans, and coleslaw refuse to play second fiddle. One day, I’ll be brave enough to tackle the Thor’s Hammer, but for now, I’m happily working through the rest of the menu. Pro-tip: Get there early. They sell out fast because the secret is out—the food is outstanding, and the owner is a top-tier guy who genuinely cares about the craft and his customers. The world really could use more people like him! If you aren't in line yet, you’re doing it wrong!

Wow. Great bbq place. We got the lil piggy pack. You get the big beef rib, 2 baby back pork ribs, Texas toast, pulled pork, brisket and Mac and cheese. Plenty of great food for 6 people. They have 3 different sauces. Honey, Cajun and OG. Some of the best sauces I’ve ever had. It’s only pick up. Call ahead, because when they’re out, you’re out of luck.
